Hello,
I am a newbie. One of my PCs is a loaner__XP Pro SP2_fully patched Asus TUV4x Award BIOS rev 1002 v6.0 P3 993 cpu homebuilt 500 RAM. Monitor is a 19" Gateway.

I installed a Matrox Parhelia video card [a gift]. It is brand new, and ran fine untill I installed the Windows drivers, from the install CD.

Now the system crashes either at boot or sometime after same. On boot I get a ''wrong cpu speed reported'' BIOS error. Resetting to 700-odd or 400-odd doesn't help. This is probably a separate MOBO issue and should be a separete forum and thread. I mention it here as it 'may' be linked.

When it is running I will click on something and I hear a clickfrom soomewhere near the monitor, and the GUI dies. The system remains running--case lights stay on, monitor light blinks away, but I cant see a thing. On reboot it will either run OK for a bit..[or] go into a BIOS screen on the CPU speed issue. POST is one beep.

I cannot find an AGP entry in BIOS and Device Man shows all to be well. I cant find a 'known good' in the pile to confirm any issues or to replace the Matrox. I may have misinstalled the Matrox drivers, but I cant get the CDROM to come up as the PC dies whenever I click on the drive. XP wont let me roll back the drivers as it says thee are none. The AGP aperture possibly needs a reset, but I c ant find it.
Thanks in advance,
Fallsoff....
