reboot loop, BIOS, JP/Psyme

  #1

Hi, my laptop keeps rebooting, and I can’t find any way to make it stop.

When I turn on my laptop all I get is a "First picture screen" (I dont know what to call it) telling me what processor I have got.
It says:

H2 Insyde
Intel Inside centrino technology

Then the laptop reboots, showing me the “First picture screen” again, reboots, etc. etc. I can’t seem to get out of this loop.

I can’t access my BIOS by pressing Delete. Only the F2- and F12-key works!

When I press F2 the BIOS displays this message:

Insyde Software Mobilepro BIOS version 4.00.00
Copyright 1983-2004 Insyde Software Corp. All rights reserved
=========================================
DCL51A BIOS Version v1.60

CPU TYPE = Intel(R) Pentium(R) M Processor 1.70GHz
Base Memory ====== 0000640 Kb
Extended Memory === 0506880 Kb
Total Memory ====== 0507904 Kb
Shared Memory ===== 0016384 Kb

Auto Detecting IDE devices
Primary Master : HTS541040G9AT00
Secondary Master : COMPAL TSB24H1 DVD/CD-RW
Insyde ACPI BIOS Initialized (version 3.00.0S)

Entering system configuration utility, please wait...

When i press F12 the BIOS displays this message:

Insyde Software Mobilepro BIOS version 4.00.00
Copyright 1983-2004 Insyde Software Corp. All rights reserved
=========================================
DCL51A BIOS Version v1.60

Booting from LAN…

The only difference between pressing F2 and F12 is the last sentence (and pressing F12 makes the laptop beep once)

Last sentence:
F2: Entering system configuration utility, please wait…
F12: Booting from LAN…

After displaying either of these messages, the laptop instantly reboots. What am I going to do??

This problem occurred to me approximately 24 hours after my AVG found a JP/Psyme virus. I tried to heal the infected file, using AVG, but it failed so instead I vaulted the file. I read about the virus, and it seemed rather harmless, so I didn’t think much of the infection until 24 hours later, when my laptop started looping. I have no clue if there is any connection between the virus and the BIOS loop, but I thought I would mention it, just in case.

Please help me. Any suggestions are welcome.
