Hi there,
I am not sure which forum to post this in. I don't know a lot about the insides of computers, language and the different this and that's. I am very good at going in and playing with stuff and making it eventually work and finding stuff on the computer. (If that makes sense).
Recently, I have started getting pop-ups that match different things that I am doing searches for. I could be wrong, but I think that is a little weird. Normally when I pull up IE and type in yahoo.com, I do not receive a pop-up, I now do.
I went into my add/remove programs and there is nothing there that shouldn't be there. I've cleared out my cookies, temp files and gone through files trying to see if anything looked weird and with my minimal knowledge, I don't see anything out of place.
Any ideas on what this pop-up is and how to get rid of it?
Thank you!

A couple of things you could do first are to scan your computer with Adaware and Spybot Search & Destroy and let them fix what they find. Try this links for downloading them:
Adaware: http://www.computercops.biz/zx/phoenix22/spybotsd13.zip
Spybot S&D: http://www.computercops.biz/downloads-file-292.html
Then you could download HijackThis and scan your computer. Do not fix anything, just save and copy and paste your log into this thread and let some of the experts take a look at it. There should be a link in one of the other threads to download HijackThis...I don't know it right offhand. Good Luck!

After trying Spybot if they are still bothering you, post a HijackThis log....just in case it is something that neither of them will fix. If that is the case, one of the security experts will take a look at your log and advise you as to what you should remove, and any other programs you may need to run to get everything in working order again.

To help keep yourself from being reinfected with something, use Spywareblaster; it will install a list on known "baddies" into your browser's Restricted Sites.
