Are all CPU fans the same?

If I buy a new AMD CPU, do I have to buy a new fan too or can I use the fan from my previous AMD CPU with a different socket? Do the sockets have to be the same?

Never mind. I found the answer myself because the heatsink and fans section on newegg asks for the socket type. =)
