Using XP and trying to set up server...

Whats happenin people,
I currently picked up a new laptop and I am trying to set up my previous pc as a server so I can go into the files anywhere in the house. But I dont know how to set it up using a domain and I also need to knwo the simple process of creating a server directory (ie x:\\server\share)
Any help is very much appreciated

directory server is not a file server. what you are talking about is simple file sharing in a home network, no domain needed.
