did you set the mysql password with

•

mysql -u root
mysql> USE mysql;
mysql> UPDATE user SET Password=PASSWORD('new-password') WHERE user='root';
mysql> FLUSH PRIVILEGES;

drop your files into the webroot (ususally somewhere under /var/www)
