unexpected error

When I attempt to click on an underlined URL I get a pop up message that tells me an unexpected error has occurred in windows etc...If I write the actual URL down and click on it in the place it in the location window I will be sent to the proper pabe but I can not get to the page using the underlined link??I am a bit confused. Any help would be appreciated.
