Do I need the XP disc to reformat my computer?

I think you can just use one of those boot discs that you can make via Windows 98 and ME. If you don't have one you can probably download one then put it on a floppy. Just keep it in your drive, reboot your computer, and it should take over. If not, you'll need to alter the boot device process thingy. I'm not 100% sure, but all I know is that you should be able to do it the old fashioned way.
Good luck
