Hi, Just reviewed your site. A few thoughts:
1. The Nav buttons on the left are difficult to see with the contrast of the background. It may be better to make the background image (at least on the side) about 40% transparency.

2. The content of your page communicates chemical engineering concepts while the images convey an agricultural interest apart from the chemical engineering. I am guessing the chemical engineering is primarily directed at sustainable agriculture in some way but your messages should show chemicals being applied or lab work being performed.

Since it is a conference, the registration form should be much more prominent. This is especially important if this site is somehow tied to your marketing.

AT first i thought it was a travel site ( first impression ) It does not look like it conveys the message well. Personally it does not look very professional . The font on top is also dated.
