my laptop is HP Pavilion tx1220us (GA647UA#ABA) about a month ago after starting my computer i raelised that it didnt connect to my home wireless connecetion i checked and found out that there is no "manage wireless connections" or "connect to a network" in network and sharing center ...and it wasnt detected in device manager...not even as unidentified device
i would say that its some hardware issue maybe its been hit and need replacement ...but the weird thing IS: couple of times after rebooting the machine it shows up normally andit doesnt re install the driver as its already in the windows folder and that happen like .... 20~30% of the number of times i boot the computer.. which suck. it never worked when i rlly needed it lol

my wireless network adapter is : "Broadcom 4321AG 802.11a/b/g/draft-n Wi-Fi Adapter" i have the latest driver for vista ( ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp39501-40000/sp39911.exe )

I had/have the same problem with my laptop. I don't know if this will work for you, but it temporarily worked for me. I did a program recovery. I got to it through the screen that pops up every time I log in - I don't know if you have it. Anyway, I clicked on the help tab, then I clicked on the system recovery, and then I clicked on program recovery, and I reinstalled the network thing. And then it worked again, until I closed my laptop, and then it wasn't working anymore when I opened it again. And I tried reinstalling the network thing again and it isn't working anymore.

My HP TX1000 (actually TX1320US) is doing this now. I did a restore point and the card appeared. Hour later it was gone. Happened several times. Eventually I wiped the drive and started over. First boot up with factory settings, no wireless adapter. (Bluetooth, part of the same radio, works.)

Replaced the wifi/bluetooth radio card for fifty bucks (HP wants 117). No help.

HP says this happened with other models, and they extended the warranty for two years, shipped a free box, fixed 'em free.

I think they need to do that again.
