What model is you emachine?
Some models they used a Bestec PSU which is not only renowned for failing, but taking th motherboard along with it. Once we know what model you have we can find out if it was installed with that brand of PSU.
Other than the CPU fan running, are there any other signs of life? LEDs lighting up, trays on the optical drives opening?
