I can program but I know Im not the best at it but its the field and industry Im very much interested in and devoted to. What are the chances of breaking into the industry and gaining a position in the design side of things of SD like Junior Analyst; if such a job even exists?!

I believe you still need to do programming, especially when you are at an entry level software developer job. Software design and programming are closely related, and having strong programming skills provides a sound foundation for software design.
