Position: Systems Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs systems analysis, design, testing and implementation-assistance for development, enhancement, and production support of the enterprise system. Subject matter may encompass all or part of reservations, profiles, customer service, dispatch, pricing/costing and billing functions of an integrated system. Develops an understanding of the business model; define, document, and apply to the application design. Works with business areas to define requirements. Translates to functional and technical design. Prepares system specifications. Develops system and user acceptance test plans, scenarios, and scripts. Coordinates and conducts testing and verification, to encompass functional, operational, and performance criteria. Assists in defining project objectives, scope, and effort. Provides ongoing support of production system – assisting users with effective utilization of the systems and responding to problems and questions. Responsible for ensuring that the business model, functional and data design, and technical architecture are consistently implemented. Expected to develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the application functions, facilities, and technical architecture in order to develop and extend the enterprise system.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND EXPECTATIONS:

· Perform systems analysis, design, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of the enterprise system.

· Assist in defining project objectives, scope, and plan.

· Work with business areas to define requirements. Document requirements. Translate to functional design, specifying functions, screens/GUI, reports, process rules, and data. Define, document and obtain agreement.

· Work with development team to define object/component design.

· Prepare and maintain functional and data specifications.

· Develop system test plans, scenarios, and scripts for functional, operations, and performance criteria. Coordinate and assist in conducting testing and verification with project team. Assist/develop user acceptance test plans, scenarios, and scripts. Coordinate and assist user acceptance testing.

· Develop release notes, particularly user notes, and other user material.

· Respond to questions and problems about the application from the user community. Assist business users with understanding and effective implementation and use of the system. May prepare ad hoc queries or develop reports.

· Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the application functions, facilities, and technical architecture in order to develop and extend the enterprise system.

· Coordinate with all other project teams to ensure functional and technical integration of the Enterprise System.

· Work with others to develop, implement, and continuously improve development and software management practices.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:

· A minimum of 8 years experience developing integrated operational business applications that implement mission-critical functionality, have high performance, availability, and data integrity requirements, and are highly user-interactive. Demonstrated experience with defining requirements,

translating to systematic functions, user interface design required.

· Experience with reservations, order entry, vehicle dispatch, and/or the transportation and travel industry preferred.

· Direct experience with all phases of the system development life cycle, including analysis, design, development, test, implementation, and production support, is required.

· Background in online transaction processing and implementing systems utilizing a major DBMS (Oracle experience preferred) is required.
