I'd say this is more a case of cybersquatting than fraud. There's nothing technically illegal about it, but I'd be nervous about being the owner of such a high profile name jacking.

Thanks for all your comments. There is nothing wrong with a supporter or non-supporter owning a domain about a famous personality, as long as they do not claim to be the official site. Watchdog sites, fan sites and spoof sites are perfectly legal and in many cases offer a valuable service to the public.

I agree with wman... As long as you do not use the url in bad faith, it can have a positive side. Imagine urls like ObamasPresidency, ObamasDream, ObamasAutobiography, ObamasPolicies dot com becoming a movie ( would the entertainment industry or publishing industry want any of these domains?) most likely yes... So I see a high interest and a safe one when purchsing urls like these. Again, as long as they are not used in bad faith agasint the person/s in connection.
