Installing Windows GRUB problem

Hi, I'm not sure if this is in the right forum, I apologize If its not.

I have the GRUB boot loader installed on my computer, and its interfering with me installing windows from cd.

I insert the windows install CD, and it says
"Setup will now check your computers hardware"
Or something to that effect -

And then GRUB loads up, stopping the Windows installation.

How can I remove grub?
I am using a livecd operating system, which boots just fine.
I have tried using the Windows XP recovery cd to restore the MBR, but GRUB stops that also.

If I remember correctly you will need to remove the existing partitions first - possibly on another machine - and then install windows.
