hey man. the answer to your question is YES it can, when cloning the hdd it will ask you to select the drives that you want to clone, just make sure that you select all the partitions of the drive and then clone! it will clone all the data as it was on the old drive and you will be able to boot from the new drive with no problems! Just remember that if the partition was damaged by the faulty drive then it will show up on the new drive as well. but other then that you should not have any problems, i use acronis for all my clients cloning needs and i use it for my personal pcs as well.

no problem man! a nother thing to remember is that if your laptop has a microsoft sticker on the bottom of it,then that means that you have the license and that you never have to bye another one again! so if the recovery partition does not work then all you need to do is get a Xp cd and install it!(use sp2 or sp3) and then just activate the windows either over the net or the phone!

yes you can! if it does not want to activate online then you can phone Microsoft and activate it, they will ask you why do you want to activate it again, just tell them that it is because of hardware failure. you are having any problem then just let me know!
