How do I code an IF loop to perform the following?:

if a > X
b = //a value//
else
b = //another value//

Java Syntax (Toggle Plain Text) 
  1. int a = 5;
  2. int b = 7;
  3.  
  4. if (a > b)
  5. {
  6.    b += 1;
  7. }
  8. else 
  9. {
  10.   b -= 1;
  11. }

It can be used as a recursive function. I guess that's what he was talking about...Maybe...?

We had Prolog last semester..... Rekursion is not my favorite, but it'll go.
