W-D hard drive issues

Hi Family !
I have a Western Digital , external hard drive. The model number is WD25001032-001.
It was dropped last week and now shows signs of problems. After plugging it in, it loads up ok. Sometimes now, it freezes up while opening up files and trying to add or delete files. Sometimes it works ok.
Is there a way to run a program on it to see whats wrong with it and fix it ? Or, is it time to take everything off of it and trash it ?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated !

That would be the best idea.

If there is mechanical damage, then no s/w is going to be able to fix that for you. It might be able to work around the problem for a while, but longer term, it's trash.

Save your data while you can, and get another drive ASAP.

After saving your data, and before throwing it in the electronics recycle bin, run this over it.
