I was looking around for an mIRC client for linux suse professional, and I couldnt see anything, then on mirc's homepage they had a windows emulator which allows you to run windows programs (http://www.winehq.com)
I downloaded the program but the .rpm wouldn't install with yast for some reason even though it was chmodded correctly, and it didn't display in yast, when I clicked import it said "incorrect or unsupported file"
Anyone know how to install, or where i can find a good mIRC client?
Thanks in advance,
~ gazaa

I am still VERY new to Linux but...
I finally found a irc client that "feels" right. KVirc http://www.kvirc.net/
I've tried xchat, bitchx, etc. but this is my irc of choice. Windows immigrants, mIRC users will like this one. althought it not exactly the same. It's alot easier to navigate then the previous clients I've tried.
the script archive for the client doesnt contain much (5 or so scripts?) . but it does support scripting.
so if your still looking for an irc client that feels right. check it out..
oh, I installed the newer kvirc3 thru a deb file on the site. when i clicked on the deb. kpackage managed it automatically. Sweet! i thought I had to learn dpkg command.
kvirc3 is working perfectly and running 24/7 with no issues. I didnt check if kvirc3 was obtainable thru apt-get / kpackage / synaptic.
I hope that helps...
It should work much better than trying to run Mirc in a Windows Emulator

xchat comes with most distros and it works rather well.

xchat is really nice, but if your insistant on using mirc, you can run mirc in wine fine.
