| Re: Virus Alert! in taskbar Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop. Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present). Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply. Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user. http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm |

| Re: Virus Alert! in taskbar Do the following then try again Scan with HijackThis and then place a check next to all the following, if present: O7 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System, DisableRegedit=1 ...(Unless you've restricted the use of registry editing, have HiJackThis fix this.) Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked". |

| Re: Virus Alert! in taskbar You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a Notepad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site. Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files. You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection. The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter". The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart anyway into normal Windows. A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply along with a new HijackThis log. The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background. |

| Hmm, computer wont boot into safe mode, it just brings up like a black and white DOS screen with loads of commands or file paths then wont do anything? Tried again and it just hangs with this line: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows\system32\config\system I'll have a scout on the net and see if i can find anything about that and then once i get it working i'll post the new logs. Hmm is there any chance i can do the fix without booting into safe mode? |

| Re: Virus Alert! in taskbar Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebyt...are_d5756.html) to your desktop. * Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program. * At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. * If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. * Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan. * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. * Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. * When completed, a log will open in Notepad. * Post the log back here. Make sure that you restart the computer. The log can also be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt Or at C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt Post new HJT log. |

| Re: Virus Alert! in taskbar So, you have looked in both these directories? C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt Or at C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt == Scan with HijackThis and then place a check next to all the following, if present: O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present ...(Unless you've set these with an anti-spyware program like SpyBot's Immunize feature, have HiJackThis fix this.) O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\RunApp.exe O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\RunApp.exe O20 - AppInit_DLLs: nbmfhm.dll urepem.dll Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked". =============== Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure you are able to view system and hidden files/ folders: folders... C:\Program Files\PartyGaming Search for... urepem.dll ...using "Start | Search...". - Note that some of these file(s)/folder(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them in Safe Mode by doing the following:
- Reboot. =============== After rebooting, rescan with hijackthis and post back a new log. Please let me know how your pc is now. |
