Right click on your desktop and select properties. Go to the Desktop Tab and select 'Customise Desktop.' Select the Web Tab and then delete everything there except the 'My Current Home Page' option.
Hit the apply button and then ok out.
Download winsockfix from http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/N...nSockFix.shtml and run it.
Reboot when done and try connecting to the web again.
