Can't Log in into FTP

In the past two days I've been trying to login into my ftp server, but just nothing works. I use Norton Antivirus, but I can't find nothing that helps me solve the problem. This is what I get
I use Cute FTP Proffesional

STATUS:> [12/25/2007 5:31:05 PM] Getting listing ""...
STATUS:> [12/25/2007 5:31:05 PM] Resolving host name ftp.mydomanin.com...

ERROR:> [12/25/2007 5:31:26 PM] Can't read from control socket. Socket error = #10054.

Double check your user name and password.
This advice may help:
Go to Site manager>(Right click on your ftp host and click on) Properties>Click on "Type" tab>Find "Data connection type:" and change "Use global settings" to "Use PORT".

Ok I use Windows XP
and now I get this

firewalls - disable them. even better - use a proper FTP, something like BPftp

If I disable the firewalls is even worst, I'm sure is not the firewalls

as I said - get a proper ftp server software. windows built in is not very good

He's using Cute FTP, not windows.
No word on whether the suggested solution has been tried.
