| I can't get to the Control Panel! My friend had some nasty viruses on her computer, including the Trojan virus. I managed to install an anti-virus to remove the viruses, but I still can't get to the Control Panel to activate the firewall. The links for the Control Panel are gone and when I click "Run" and type in "Control Panel" I get the following message: This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." WE DON'T HAVE A SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR! Can you please help me find a way to get to the control panel? Thank you. Sincerely, Sheala |

| Re: I can't get to the Control Panel! Hi and welcome to Daniweb forums :). Download HijackThis from here. Download it to your desktop and NOT a temporary folder. Start HJT & press the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. When the scan is finished a window will pop up giving you the option of where to save it. Save it to desktop where it is easy to access. Open the log file and copy the entire contents of the file & paste it into the body of your post. DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET. Most of what is there is necessary for the running of your system. |
