which is a better technology????

hey,
i am a newbee to web development.i was wondering as to what is the best platform for creating dynamic websites....
i mean which is better php/myql. , asp , coldfusion etc... with respect to ease of coding and hosting

asp.net / MSSQL is nice and easy because you can use Visual Studio to do most of your code for you

However, you need to invest in an expensive windows server whereas with PHP and MySQl its inexpensive.
