| HiJackThis & Startup Logs attached 1 Attachment(s) I was last here in June you fixed me right up. I got a computer for my 16 year old son, and i know he has been doing things that he shouldn't be doing ;) I think I have something in the log or startup that is causing him not to be able to use the control panel features of the dell computer that he has. Listed below is the HiJackThis log file attached is the Startup file. Anything you can do is much appreciated as the last time. Logfile of HijackThis v1.98.2 Scan saved at 9:47:36 PM, on 9/6/2004 Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXPPS.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\AOL\ACS\acsd.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccProxy.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\CTsvcCDA.exe C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\nvsvc32.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\wanmpsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\MsPMSPSv.exe C:\Program Files\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds\wbload.exe C:\Program Files\Dell\Media Experience\PCMService.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exe C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\RealPlay.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Dell\EUSW\Support.exe C:\Program Files\NETGEAR\WG311TSU\Utility\Gear311T.exe C:\Program Files\MUSICMATCH\Musicmatch Jukebox\mm_tray.exe c:\Program Files\Dell\Support\Alert\bin\NotifyAlert.exe C:\Program Files\Belkin\Nostromo\nost_LM.exe C:\Program Files\Creative\SBLive\Diagnostics\diagent.exe C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe C:\PROGRA~1\MOZILL~1\FIREFOX.EXE C:\Documents and Settings\myname\My Documents\Downloaded Software\hijackthis\HijackThis.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe R1 - | Re: HiJackThis & Startup Logs attached I can't really see anything that is spyware but i am only a half noob when it comes to this. |
| ||
| Re: HiJackThis & Startup Logs attached I appreciate your help Billy! I forgot to mention that I had already gotten rid of all spyware and I have registery mechanic, so that got rid of pretty much everything, the only thing is that something must be stuck in my startup file that is interfering with my control panel, I can't seem to be able to get into the sound as well as performance that sort of thing, i can still get into add/delete programs but nothing else, it says that windows explorer as encountered an error and needs to close. i had a problem with my computer this past june and it took a while for "crunchie" to figure it out, it was a hard one, had something to do with my sound blaster ? only seemed to effect dell computers.....and guess what this computer is another dell. so i thought that it could again be something of this nature. anyway, i have sent crunchie a pm to let him know. Thanks again.....Tina |

| Re: HiJackThis & Startup Logs attached Have received the following, so please give it a try. Go to Start/Run & type regedit & hit OK. Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\don't load Look in the right pane and you'll see the Control Panel Icons that have been disabled. You can either right click on the "don't load" subkey and select Delete to restore all disabled icons, or you can right click on each of the items in the right pane and select Delete to selectively restore them. Scroll up to Control Panel Applets for a listing of what each one is. The change will be seen the next time you open Control Panel. |

| Re: HiJackThis & Startup Logs attached Wow, that was quick! I'm at work now, so I will give it a try when I get home. I will post the results tonight. If I might ask, what do you think the cause of something like this could be? I would just like to be able to inform my son, of what maybe not to do in the future. Thank you again. |

| Re: HiJackThis & Startup Logs attached Hi Crunchie Sorry to say that the regedit did not change the problems with control panel. I have decided to just have my son backup everything that he wants to keep such as data, music, etc. So I can just re-install the operating system. I think this is the best, and seeing that this is not a virus or stuff like that it is better that you help others out who are really in a jam, my issue would take to long to trouble shoot, and in the long run it is looking like this is the best solution to the problem. I'm just glad that it isn't my computer. He has also learned his lesson about going to pornographic web sites, it is better to just go and buy a magazine then risk harming his computer again, or for that matter our entire network that we have here at the house. I appreciate everyone's help! Thank you so very much Tina |
