| No taskbar HELP Please Running Windows XP service pack 2. I think I have been hit with a trojan or virus. My taskbar is missing! First let me say I think I am somewhat of an advance PC user to the point my family brings me all their computer problems to fix. I usually can beat most trojans and viruses with the all the tools I have. I am having to use my laptop to post this. This is my first post! Also want to say thank you for all those who do help out with other peoples PC problems. This forum is very helpful. OK now the problem I am having is, I have no taskbar and it seems that the theme has change to a classic looking view as if it were in safe mode. Also seems little to no window services are running. I only have desktop icons. I can boot into safe mode with the same thing. No taskbar. Ok I know the first thing your say is it is hiding. NOPE! It just gone. Its not repositioned, its missing all together. Now let me tell you what i did to cause this and what I've tried so far with no fix. Ive been at this for 3 days now with no success. I have a newly factory restored computer that got sent out to Toshiba with a new hard drive and 60 day subscription to Microsoft Office 2003. Well I was searching the net for a crack or serial or key generator for it. Well I found a serial that worked but when I looked for one that would bypass the phone registeration is when it went all downhill. It was labeled Office 2003 crack and scanned free of viruses so I opened it and Teatimer from spybot search and destroy went crazy with popups. I can use regedit and im not seeing anything in hijack this that helps me. I dont want to format the drive and start fresh but I may just have to slave the drive to another computer and save everything and start all over again. I am going to post the latest hijack this file and tell me what you think. Also one last thing is I did see some weird files in the win.ini folder that doesnt make any sense to me. If you think that is related let me know and I'll post that. I appreciate any advice you can give. Thanks! | Re: No taskbar HELP Please Fixed it by opening up task manager. went to new. typed in control.exe which opened the control panel. clicked on taskbar menu. unchecked lock the taskbar. at that point was able to grab the taskbar and move it up to view it. hope this helps someone else. |
