DaniWeb IT Discussion Community - Video Advertising Startup Seeks Software Engineer

FreeWheel Media is a well-funded, fast-growing startup specializing in online video advertising. We are in search of a skilled and enthusiastic software engineer that loves to work with web technologies (JavaScript, Flash, SilverLight, video, etc.) to find creative solutions to challenging problems.

In this position you will research, design and develop the technologies that help FreeWheel's customers integrate our video ad serving services with our customers' web sites and video delivery platforms. This work spans a wide range of technologies and challenges. Recent examples include design and development of Flash and JavaScript integration libraries, development of automated video transcoding and editing solutions and research and design of integration strategies between FreeWheel's and third party ad serving technologies.

We're looking for someone who is super-smart, passionate about the Internet, technology and online media, and who is self-motivated and will thrive in a start-up environment. If you think you've got what it takes, read on.

Key Skills and Attributes:
Our ideal candidate would have all of the following skills. If you don't have all of these, but are willing and able to quickly learn new skills, then don't worry, just keep reading.

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or closely related field
Strong coding skills in an OO language (e.g., C++, Java, C#)
Knowledge of web basics, including solid understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals, HTTP, HTML, CSS
Non-trivial experience hand-writing JavaScript and building AJAX Applications
Experience building applications with Adobe Flash in ActionScript 2.0 or 3.0 (both major pluses)
Knowledge and experience with Internet video, including familiarity with codecs, container formats, playlist formats, transcoding and video manipulation tools, and methods of embedding/delivering video on the web (all major pluses)
Any previous experience with Internet advertising, ad networks, and online ad management systems

What we are not looking for:

Engineers only looking to build web apps with J2EE, ASP.NET, PHP, etc. (this is not a web app development position)
Engineers only interested in using a particular language or technology (we use a variety of technologies that reflect our customers' needs)
Those who will not enjoy and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
