| Slow loading of internet, Please help! I've got this problem of internet loading very very slowly. Tried scanning whole computer with Ad-Aware SE (latest definitions) with critical items to removed, which I did. Tried scanning with AVG8, this is wat I've found, Trojan horse Generic9.XKD and many Tracking cookies, path to file are all user/AppData/Roaming..... I've moved them to virus vault, but still, whenever I tried surfing (still loading slowly) AVG8 will prone me of these Tracking cookie. One more thing is that, while playing music on windows media player and surfing (slow loading), the sound will get distorted. Briefly, my system is as such, Vista32bit, Core2, 4gb ram, IE7 Please help me look through, thanks alot! | Re: Slow loading of internet, Please help! First...the tracking cookies would not cause a massive slowdown (at least not noticable). The trojan however may be an issue. It seems you have used the latest disk of freebies handed out with PC-Mag. some of these are good, some arent. I would recommend trying spybot S&D instead of adaware se. But that is personal preference (note, if you use both, BOTH of them will find the other as a problem and try to quarentine them). At first glance it seems you just dont have enough security. Be careful when surfing with IE7, as the explorer is the same system used in the windows operating system for viewing your OWN files, not just the network. This makes it easier to infect the explorer, and henceforth your computer in VERY rapid succession. I reccommend trying firefox instead....more secure, faster net, and SEPERATE systems. In short, if you have a problem with firefox, remove it, and reinstall it. Most often that fixes it. However you still have the trojan on your computer. Use your anti-virus to remove it. Quarentines work for the most part but some viruses tend to find a way around them. So try deleting it completely. Once you do that you should do a system defrag, rescan, and restart. Then you should be good to go. |

| Re: Slow loading of internet, Please help! Hi, I have done what have been adviced, spybot, spywareblaster, erase all trojans, defrag, reboot, using firefox now. And I tried to 'Fix' some entries after doing some research, those entries in red, i tried to 'fixed' but everytime it will come back on, just wanna know if it's important to my problem? Sadly to say, still not much improvement, is there anything more i need to do? | Re: Slow loading of internet, Please help! Log is fine. If you wish to change registry settings... ie to FIX those R0, R1 entries you must.. Temporarily... =Disable TeaTimer: Open Spybot, click Mode, select Advanced Mode, click Yes in new window, click on Tools in bottom left hand corner. Click the Resident icon and uncheck Teatimer box. How is AVG8 working with Spywareblaster?... there was a false positive detection issue earlier. Defender. Spybot. AVG8. Overkill. |

| Re: Slow loading of internet, Please help! Hm...so what is u guys' advice, i don't know which software is good. I've AVG8 (licensed), Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, Spywareblaster, Windows Defender (Vista default), which one shld i keep running? Any specific settings? By the way, I have removed all those R0 and R1, to no avail, internet still slow, even with Firefox. Did some tweaking on Firefox 'about:config', same thing. Loading of pages is slow, but downloading is normal. Also got latest drivers for VGA card, really dunno wat happen! |

| Re: Slow loading of internet, Please help! AVG8 does it all, AV, AS, ActiveX blocker... I do not use any realtime AS... I keep AVG AS and Spybot uptodate but rarely scan. I have Spywareblaster for ActiveX blocking and site blocker. So cut the list to AVG8 and Spywareblaster. Occasionally update Spybot but no need to run it as a guard. My opinion, based on my activities. You may be a web rat for all I know. |
