"Cannot find server or DNS Error"
 

I am using the latest Internet Explorer (6) on Windows XP. About couple days ago, I was using Internet Explorer with a breeze, but now any website or url sites i type it won't apperar. It takes me straight to the Cannot find Server screen. And at the bottom it says "cannot find server or DNS Error." I would deeply appreciate it if you could help me resolve this problem. Thanks!

Hi. First off, ALL hijackthis logs should be posted in the Security forum. You also need to make sure it is saved in its own permanent folder, not a temp one or on your desktop. Also be sure that all other browser windows are closed before scanning. If you haven't done so already, you could do scans with Adaware and Spybot and let them fix anything they find. After doing that, reboot, scan with hijackthis with all other windows closed, and post your log in the Security forum where one of the security experts can help you out. There have been several threads dealing with the DNS error/Cannot find server issue. While you are waiting you could look through some of them and see if any of the advice offered in those threads can help you any. Good luck! :)

Go to Windows Update and get all the critical updates for your computer except SP2.
Do what deonna has suggested.
After your computer has been cleaned up, you should probably go to Windows Update again to get SP2, but you should read through this thread before doing so:
