connection problem

wonder if anyone can help new to this my son has a laptop that cannot connect to the internet sometimes goes on and off and is unable to connect to msn all the time he has lost his back up cds so i am unable to wipe and start again how can i get round this is there another way? anyone ?

Error messages?
