I'm am Trying to fix My brother-in-laws Laptop (which runs windows XP) - I have seen several posts similar to this (that is actually what lead me to this site) but when I tried the suggestions on the other posts it did not solve my problem.
The problem is:
Every so often this fake warning message pops up
Firefox will not load at all, the window opens up for one second and then just closes.
Internet Explorer will work untill you search for something that would help you get rid of the problem, then it too just closes.

Since I have tried several of the suggestions on here I have deleted several TDSS files. I also tried a suggestion on this forum which told me to kill the process C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe but it will not let me - even on safe mode. And I have several Logs to post. Sry this is a huge post. and thank you very much for the help.
