| Need Assistance : Explorer.exe failure Hi everybody, Today My computer decided to start turning on and off the explorer.exe every 10 seconds. ive done a boot scan with avast and deleted everything that was a threat, and somthing is still crashing explorer. ive also tried spybot search and destroy. cant figure out how to address this situation. If anybody would be patient enough to help me out, i would really appreciate it. | Re: Need Assistance : Explorer.exe failure First of all turn off both Spybot TeaTimer and AdAware Service. Both can interfere with any fixes done. To turn off Spybot TeaTimer open the program, choose Mode, Advanced, Then Tools. When Tools opens choose Resident. When Resident opens take the check mark OUT of TeaTimer. Close the program. To turn off AdAware Service do the following: Go to Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. When the Services opens scroll down (these are listed in alphabetical order) until you see Lavasoft Ad-Aware Service (aawservice). Double Click. When the Lavasoft service properties box opens first go to the bottom and click Stop. This will stop the service. Once it is stopped then in the middle you will see Start up type and a window which says Automatic. Click the little arrow there and when the drop down menu appears choose Disabled. Click ok. Close out properties and services. Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBA-M) to your Desktop. * DoubleClick mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install MBA-M. * Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. * If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. * Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan. * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. * Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. * When MBA-M finishes, Notepad will open with the log. Please save it where you can find it easily. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt. Reboot the system. Once the computer has rebooted then run a new HJT scan and save the log. Post back here with both logs. Judy |
