| Vitrumonde/W32.Ahlem.A@mm(a.exe) Problem, explorer.exe crashing constantly!! I had been noticing unwanted ads loading in firefox so i ran spybot which found nothing, but the problems started last night when i blocked a.exe from accessing the internet. I opened task manager and noticed acrord32.exe was using about 1.3gb of RAM (if that has any significance). Then explorer.exe started continually crashing and restarting. I ran adaware which found 5 registry entries for Virtumonde malware, which I removed, restarted and scanned again but they had come back. Because of the the problems with explorer i have been unable to save files so i wasn't able to download DDS and couldn't save the Gmer log. However here is the log from Hijackthis: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 19:13:47, on 14/12/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16762) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\AppCore\AppSvc32.exe C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\aawservice.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvc32.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\SyncroSoft\Pos\H2O\cledx.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\M-AudioTaskBarIcon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\RUNDLL32.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\WINDOWS\SOUNDMAN.EXE C:\Program Files\Elaborate Bytes\VirtualCloneDrive\VCDDaemon.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\Program Files\Razer\Diamondback\razerhid.exe C:\Program Files\ULI5289\ALi5289.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Razer\Diamondback\razerofa.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Winamp\winamp.exe C:\Program Files\Last.fm\LastFM.exe C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\Program Files\totalcmd\TOTALCMD.EXE c:\Program Files\HijackThis\iamabunny.exe R0 - | Re: Vitrumonde/W32.Ahlem.A@mm(a.exe) Problem, explorer.exe crashing constantly!! Hello, Can you pls do the following: 1. - Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes...=dl&tag=button) to your desktop. * Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program. * At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. * If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. * Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan. * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. * Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. * When completed, a log will open in Notepad. * Post the log back here. Make sure that you restart the computer. The log can also be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt Or at C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt 2. - Pls run HJT again and post the log. | Re: Vitrumonde/W32.Ahlem.A@mm(a.exe) Problem, explorer.exe crashing constantly!! By the way, acrord32.exe is usually Acrobat Reader. Also, don't do anything else while running a scan like MBA-M, you want it to find everything it can and if interrupted it can miss something. |

| Re: Vitrumonde/W32.Ahlem.A@mm(a.exe) Problem, explorer.exe crashing constantly!! Okay in the end it found 18 Vundo entries, and has removed them all after a restart and everything is running fun, wasn't able to save a log as it would crash it. However after a restart it seems to have loaded properly and explorer isn't crashing anymore so hopefully its fixed :) Just done another HJS scan, here's the log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 01:25:28, on 15/12/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16762) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\AppCore\AppSvc32.exe C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\aawservice.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\SyncroSoft\Pos\H2O\cledx.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\M-AudioTaskBarIcon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\RUNDLL32.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\WINDOWS\SOUNDMAN.EXE C:\Program Files\Elaborate Bytes\VirtualCloneDrive\VCDDaemon.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\Program Files\Razer\Diamondback\razerhid.exe C:\Program Files\ULI5289\ALi5289.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvc32.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Razer\Diamondback\razerofa.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\Program Files\HijackThis\iamabunny.exe R0 -
