| Problems with IE, Outlook and General Sped, but nothing found in scans Hi, A few days ago, I started having several problems: IE usually won't open. On the rare occassion that I get it to work, my computer shuts down randomly. Also, Outlook is behaving strangely (freezing up constantly) and the general speed of my computer is much slower than before. I've run virus and adware scans, but nothing shows up as a threat. Below are the logs from my last Malwarebytes scan and Hijackthis. Am I missing something, or am I experiencing a problem unrelated to malware or spyware? Thanks in advance for any help. | Re: Problems with IE, Outlook and General Sped, but nothing found in scans Hi and welcome to the Daniweb forums :). ========== Please go to Jotti's or to virustotal and have this file scanned. Post the results back here. C:\WINDOWS\system32\mst122.dll |
| ||
| Re: Problems with IE, Outlook and General Sped, but nothing found in scans Thanks for your quick response! Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see a file called mst122.dll in the system32 folder. |

| Re: Problems with IE, Outlook and General Sped, but nothing found in scans Also, noticed today that my volume control no longer appears on the taskbar. In Control Panel, it won't let me add it because it says it has not been installed. Additionally, Ad-Aware is shutting down unexpectedly at random times. I don't know if these problems are relevant, but I thought they might be worth mentioning since they have just popped up. |

| Re: Problems with IE, Outlook and General Sped, but nothing found in scans Just try copy/pasting the full path into the jotti window |
| ||
| Re: Problems with IE, Outlook and General Sped, but nothing found in scans Neither jotti or virustotal allows me to copy and paste in the window. Both require me to browse for files. Just to double-check, this is the file you want me to scan: C:\WINDOWS\system32\mst122.dll There is no file in the system32 folder by that name (and there are no hidden files on my computer). |
| ||
| Re: Problems with IE, Outlook and General Sped, but nothing found in scans There are hidden files on every computer. Do you mean that you have changed the settings to reveal them? |
| ||
| Re: Problems with IE, Outlook and General Sped, but nothing found in scans Yes. I enabled the viewing of all hidden files per Philliefan's pushpinned post at the top of this forum. |

| Re: Problems with IE, Outlook and General Sped, but nothing found in scans Please download ComboFix by sUBs from HERE or HERE
Note: Do not mouse-click combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine. Run Combofix ONCE only!! |

| Re: Problems with IE, Outlook and General Sped, but nothing found in scans Sorry for the delay in replying, but my computer pretty much refused to let me access anything. I gave up, saved my personal documents, formatted the C drive and started over. I was hoping to avoid the whole formatting process, but I finally bit the bullet. Thanks for all of your help and advice. |
