| Hot Offers Hijack and Others Hi. I have been stuck up in my study every night for ages now trying to remove "Hot Offers" which has hijacked my homepage and opens internet explorer boxes on its own. (This is a pain while trying to play Half Life 2!) Seriously - I have managed to get rid of a few things like a stubborn toolbar and Trojans/Bloodhound exploit viruses by following excellent advice on this and other sites and by running the following: About Buster, CCleaner, SPyware Blaster, cwshredder, hsremove, Kill2me, Spybot1.3, Stinger and AdAware. I have ran these in Safe mode: with networking, without networking and in normal mode. A Trojan keeps coming back in Windows/st.exe or something like that but I havent seen Bloodhound Exploit 6.0 for a day or so now. I have downloaded AVG and Norton (15day trial) which I think have stopped things getting worse. I read a post about 'Hijack This' so I've ran that just now and I have put the log below. I would be grateful for any help with this log and I promise I will go and buy a decent Virus checker once this is fixed so I dont get myself in this mess again! I'm sick to death of this 'HotOffers' thingy and to be honest I'm more worried about the "Size matters" pop up in case my Wife books me in for an appointment!! Seriously please help. | Re: Hot Offers Hijack and Others Sorry nobody got back to you. We are all volunteers here and sometimes something get's missed :). As you have been deleting things since your log was posted, can you reboot and scan with hijackthis and post that log. Go here and download and run Silent Runners.vbs. It generates a log, please post the information back in this thread. |

| Re: Hot Offers Hijack and Others For Hotoffers, follow this link: http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/thread19959.html Even if this works, still follow up with Crunchie on getting everything else out. He knows what he's doing. |

| Re: Hot Offers Hijack and Others Download the Pocket KillBox Unzip the file to your desktop. Go offline until you have completed all the below. Run Pocket Killbox and paste the full file path of each of the below files in the box and click on Standard File Kill and End Explorer Shell While Killing File. Click on the button with the red circle and an X in the middle after you enter each file (see the files below). C:\WINDOWS\System32\netdc.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\systr.dll Reboot afterwards if the files are successfully deleted. If all files are not deleted, do not reboot yet. Run Pocket Killbox again and paste the full file path in the box and click on Delete on Reboot. Next click on the button with the red circle and an X in the middle. You will get a message saying "File with be deleted on next reboot, Process and Reboot now?" Click "Yes" to reboot only after the last file you enter. Run Hijackthis and go to the process viewer by going to Config, Misc Tools, Process Viewer, to unload all instances of the following running processes; C:\WINDOWS\System32\netdc.exe Hit the refresh button and ensure that it has stopped. Now attempt to delete the file manually. You may have to show hidden files/folders. Scan with hijackthis and tick the boxes next to all the following entries, then close all browser and explorer windows and hit the "Fix checked" button. | Re: Hot Offers Hijack and Others Thanks for your help. So far so good! I have also followed advice from the links at the bottom of your last post. I have adjusted my security settings and added the ie spyware and changed active x. Im going to read up on SP2 with a view to downloading it but a lot of people have told me its more trouble than its worth.... Finally - Can I ask what is SG tray? It doesnt shut down properly when I close down my pc and this has been since I began trying to sort out the problems I've been having. Thanks Lee |

| Re: Hot Offers Hijack and Others One question. Can I turn 'System Restore' back on now. I want to create a new restore point as my PC seems clean now, what do you think of that idea? Thanks Lee |
