I've been looking at all the CMS demos out there and really can't find one that suits my needs. What I'm looking for is somewhat of an Intranet site for help desk technicians. There are 6 main goals that I want to acheive. In no particular order,
  • store technical and user documentation
  • execute files (setup.exe)
  • integrate checklist information (database pointing to an html file)
  • workflow
  • current projects (events)
  • knowledge base
This is the very first post I have made on this so my ideas may be a little unclear, I apologize.

I have a little knowledge of PHP and mySQL from my own website I put together, but I don't think this is something i can pull off myself.

I'd like to be able to have something that anyone can go to from any pc on our network where users or technicians can get technical documentation (installation instructions will only be available to technicians, end user instructions will be available to all). Possibly in a heirarchical tree format?

Technicians would be able to go to an area where they can execute setup files for applications, possibly even allowing end users to download simple apps or files. Technicians or users could also upload files as well.

I have an executable (that I would like to launch from within the page) that produces an html file as a report. I would like this report location to be searchable after it is produced. The exe would run, produce a report with whatever file name and it would be entered into a database. Perhaps be able to view the report in an iframe.

Workflow - In the area where this html link or report is stored There would be another database where various technicians can mark the status on an associated task or check it as complete. (This is a PC configuration checklist and when one is run, there are several tasks we have that are associated with replacing a PC, update MAC address, inventory information, DHCP, IP address, filing, etc)

On the main page, there could be a calendar driven database of current events or projects. And, finally a FAQ section or knowledge base.

I would also like the ability to have users post Q&A, popssibly a forum type thing.

Now I know what I am asking for is a custom designed application/program, but there are so many products out there that can do pretty much what I am looking for. Do you have any ideas or thoughts on where and how to proceed with this?? Again, this is just a concept at this point, but I'd really like to move forward with it soon. I am willing to program and work with whoever can help me.

MANY thanks in advance!!
