AutoShapes/Drawing toolbar makes Word freeze up

if i try to choose the AutoShape option from the 'Insert' drop-down menu or select the Drawing toolbar, Word freezes up and i have to force quit the program... every time.

What version of Word and what version of OS X?

Have you installed the Office updates? It's at 10.1.6 now, I believe.
