| Worm virus - XP issues Hello, For the past week or so I've been having issues with the pc ranging from what appear to be operating system issues (errors such as windows cannot find *.dll file) to issues with Microsoft Word (unable to autosave, losing data). Then mid week it appeared that some sort of worm had infected the system. SUDDEN onset of MULTIPLE pieces of spam mail showing up in my mailbox. I have Norton Inet security and have run an unsuccessful virus scan. I also came across a program on Symantec's web site to run for one of the latest worms, but it found nothing. My hijack log is below. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. | Re: Worm virus - XP issues Get CWShredder from: http://www.downloads.subratam.org/CWShredder.exe Open CWShredder, click on Check for updates, and after it's finished updating, click on Fix. Get SilentRunners from here: http://www.silentrunners.org/ Run it, and post the log that it generates along with a fresh hijackthis log (with all browser windows closed). |

| Re: Worm virus - XP issues You appear to have some remnants of a prior infection (HotOffers?). Run these free online scans, hopefully one of them will be able to finish it off: TrendMicro -- http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ And Panda -- http://www.pandasoftware.com/product..._principal.htm Let us know the results. |

| Re: Worm virus - XP issues Quote:
If your Norton scans and the online scans that dlh6213 linked to above all come up negative, that could well be what's going on. If that's the case, the other problems/errors you said you're having may be related to other (non-viral) Windows problems. If you can post the exact contents of the .dll-related errors you got that could help us make a better determination of that. |
