For every User listed under C:\Documents and Settings, delete the entire contents of these folders (not the folders themselves): Local Settings\Temp Cookies History Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5 Delete the entire contents of your C:\Windows\Temp folder. Delete the entire contents of your C:\Temp folder (if you have one). Do a search for *.tmp and delete all entries found. | Re: cannot find server or DNS error...i know... Hi, thanks for your help, I did everything you asked me to...at least followed the instructions to the best of my knowledge... I deleted everything that came up in the search.....although there were four things that wouldn't delete even in safe mode...i forget what they're called tho  I'm not sure whether I followed your instructions correctly though. I pressed start, went to 'find' chose 'files and folders' searched for everything containing .tmp......i got over one hundred and fifty hits......after deleting everything i could, i rebooted the computer.......what's strange is, I have ALOT of error messages that pop up on start up now......is that supposed to be normal????? Or did I do something wrong and totally screwed my computer up???? Anyway, everything seems to be working alright right now...can't tell yet...... anyway, here's the new hijack log, by the way, thank you for your help! :p Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 3:30:46 PM, on 6/5/05 Platform: Windows 98 SE (Win9x 4.10.2222A) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\KERNEL32.DLL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSGSRV32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MPREXE.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\mmtask.tsk C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSTASK.EXE c:\windows\SYSTEM\KB891711\KB891711.EXE C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE C:\WINDOWS\TASKMON.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IGFXTRAY.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\HKCMD.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\MSN MESSENGER\MSNMSGR.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\ULEAD SYSTEMS\ULEAD PHOTO EXPRESS 3.0 SE\CALCHECK.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DDHELP.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\RNAAPP.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\TAPISRV.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\PSTORES.EXE C:\WINDOWS\DESKTOP\RIVENDELL\FIX INTERNET\HJK\HIJACKTHIS.EXE R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://google.com/ R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page_bak = http://www.google.co.nz/ O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\ADOBE\ACROBAT 5.0\READER\ACTIVEX\ACROIEHELPER.OCX O3 - Toolbar: &Radio - {8E718888-423F-11D2-876E-00A0C9082467} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSDXM.OCX O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ScanRegistry] c:\windows\scanregw.exe /autorun O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TaskMonitor] c:\windows\taskmon.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SystemTray] SysTray.Exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LoadPowerProfile] Rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,LoadCurrentPwrScheme O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LoadQM] loadqm.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [StillImageMonitor] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\STIMON.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IgfxTray] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\igfxtray.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HotKeysCmds] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\hkcmd.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Jammer2nd] C:\WINDOWS\Jammer2nd.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dqlyl] C:\WINDOWS\dqlyl.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [LoadPowerProfile] Rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,LoadCurrentPwrScheme O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [SchedulingAgent] mstask.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [KB891711] c:\windows\SYSTEM\KB891711\KB891711.EXE O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MsnMsgr] "c:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe" /background O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ClockSync] C:\PROGRA~1\CLOCKS~1\Sync.exe /q O4 - Startup: Ulead Photo Express 3.0 SE Calendar Checker.lnk = C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead Photo Express 3.0 SE\CalCheck.exe O4 - Startup: install.lnk = D:\APPS\install.exe O4 - Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.real.com/084081b3...p/RdxIE601.cab O16 - DPF: {8E0D4DE5-3180-4024-A327-4DFAD1796A8D} (MessengerStatsClient Class) - http://messenger.zone.msn.com/binary...t.cab28578.cab O16 - DPF: {00B71CFB-6864-4346-A978-C0A14556272C} (Checkers Class) - http://messenger.zone.msn.com/binary...r.cab28578.cab O16 - DPF: {F04A8AE2-A59D-11D2-8792-00C04F8EF29D} (Hotmail Attachments Control) - http://by15fd.bay15.hotmail.msn.com/...x/HMAtchmt.ocx O16 - DPF: {B38870E4-7ECB-40DA-8C6A-595F0A5519FF} (MsnMessengerSetupDownloadControl Class) - http://messenger.msn.com/download/Ms...Downloader.cab O16 - DPF: {2917297F-F02B-4B9D-81DF-494B6333150B} (Minesweeper Flags Class) - http://messenger.zone.msn.com/binary...r.cab31267.cab |

| Re: cannot find server or DNS error...i know... hey crunchie.....I thank you for all the help, I donno who created it, but at least I think my computer is in alot better condition now, I can't detect anymore adware/spyware with scanners, no more random crashes, computer seems to be running smoother than ever.....however, the original problem of mine still remains..... I still have trouble accessing one specific website..... I keep getting cannot find server or DNS error message when I try to access it.....sometimes, the site semi loads...for example, most of the text loads, but no picture or frames load.....if i try clicking any sort of link, they bring me back to that error message...if i try to type the url, i sometimes get redirected to a msn search thing saying the address can't be found......but strangely, on some days, the site mysteriously works perfectly for like an hour before falling apart again.....I know it's not the site server, because my friends have no difficulty accessing it anytime they wish......it's strange.....do you know what might be causing my problem? or of any solutions???? |

| Re: cannot find server or DNS error...i know... Try clearing out your cache and cookies first. You may lose some passwords by clearing the cookies, so make sure you know them first :). Try running IEFIX.htm which will repair IE and run a System File Check. |
