| in need of help, please! hi, just joined this page, really hoping i can get some help. i am by no means an expert, but i usually can get rid of problems on my computer by running spybot / adaware / norton, but unfortunately this virus seems to be harder to extract. Whenever i try and open control + alt + delete the window disappears, same when i try to Run msconfig. Had read online its something to do with NETSTATT.EXE process, but couldn't get to it, was told to run Hijack This and fix NETSTATT.EXE entries, but didn't see any. I don't really know what to delete with Hijack This so i thought i'd come here. Here's my log. | Re: really need help, please! stemp65, Hi and welcome to the Daniweb forums :). =============== We'll need to unload (not uninstall) Intermute's SpySubtract, since it might interfere with other program(s) we might be using to 'clean' off your system. =============== If you haven't run HouseCall lately, let's go back to www.trendmicro.com, download the latest definitions, and run it. =============== Let's look for, and delete, any program segments(prefetches) that might be present, and are associated with the 'problems' we're trying to remove from this system. To do this, let's: 1) Click "Start | Search", then search for each of these program's base name(s), in all files and folders: p2pnetworking.exe* fuqqa.exe* 2) Then if any are found in the 'prefetch' folder, delete them. Look closely, since the 'base' name will have a bunch of random numbers and letters attached to it. =============== Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall) the following, if present: P2P Networking The above could appear anywhere within the entry. Be careful not to remove any personal or system software. =============== Run HiJackThis then: 1. Click "Open the Misc Tools Section" 2. Click "Open Process manager" - Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following: C:\WINDOWS\system32\p2pnetworking.exe C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\fuqq\fuqqm.exe C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\fuqq\fuqqa.exe Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain. =============== Still in HiJackThis, click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present: R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=explorer.exe wins32.exe O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - (no file) O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Winsnt32] wins32.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdate] C:\Program Files\winupdate\winupdate.exe /auto O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [p2pnetworking] p2pnetworking.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ybgr3c8Gf] C:\WINDOWS\aybgteco.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [p2pnetworking] p2pnetworking.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [fuqq] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\fuqq\fuqqm.exe O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.real.com/2503e068...p/RdxIE601.cab Now, with all windows closed (including Internet Explorer) except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked". =============== Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders: folders... C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\fuqq C:\Program Files\winupdate files... C:\WINDOWS\system32\p2pnetworking.exe C:\WINDOWS\aybgteco.exe Search for... wins32.exe ...using "Start | Search...". - Note that some of these file(s)/folder(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them in "Safe Mode". - Reboot. =============== When your done, rescan your system and make sure the following isn't present: N3 - Netscape ... 5CSBWeb_01.src (or) 5CSBWeb_02.src If it is, then fix that entry again; sometimes it'll take more than one pass. The actual entry is ok, and won't be deleted, it's the java wrapper marked in red that needs to be removed. =============== To help protect your system from hostile ActiveX content, or special 'downloadable' files: Download, install and keep updated, SpywareBlaster. If you've installed it for the first time: 1) Check for any available updates; if present, they'll be automatically downloaded and installed. 2) Next, "Enable all protection". 3) Exit the program. - Note: Remember to regularly check for updates. =============== After rebooting, rescan with hijackthis and post back a new log. Let me know how everything goes. |
