Can't get rid of random pop ups
 

When ever I connect to the internet and open up IE a random pop up comes up and I just want to get rid of them.

Download Ewido and install it. Then run, you will receive a warning message saying "Database not found", click "OK" for this. Next in the main screen, click "Update" and click "Start Update". After the update process, exit from Ewido.

Download CCleaner and install it. Do not run both of these tools now.


Make Windows to show all files:-
Go to Start > My Computer.
Go to Tools menu, click Folder Options (Folder Option will be in View Menu in Win98).
Uncheck Hide protected operating system files.
Then, click to select the option Show hidden files and folders.
Click Apply and then click OK to exit.


Reboot in Safe Mode:-
Restart (or switch ON) the PC.
Then, keep tapping the F8 Key.
From the menu that will be displayed, out of which choose Safe Mode and press Enter.


Uninstall this Software from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel:-
Clear Search


Run HijackThis and click Do only a System scan.
Then put a check mark infront of below listed entries:-

Close all other open programs except Hijackthis and click the button Fix Checked in HijackThis.



Exit from HijackThis. Delete these files:-
C:\WINDOWS\about.htm
C:\WINDOWS\System32\IETie.dll
C:\WINDOWS\gihtxt.exe
C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\riif\riifm.exe

Go to Start Menu > Search. Here click "All files and folder", next click "Advanced options". Here select the options Search for hidden files, Search in system files and folders and Search subfolders. And search for below listed files and delete them:-
winmplayd.exe
msnms.exe
windowsxp.exe
crss2.exe
winmplayd.exe
smsss.exe <-- This file has three "s" in it.

Delete these folders:-
C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\riif


Run CCleaner, click "Options" button and here go to "Advanced" tab and uncheck the option "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours". Click OK to exit from the Options. Finally click "Run Cleaner" and click "OK" to continue cleaning.

Run Ewido, click on the "Scanner" button in the left menu, then click on the "Start" button.
If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "Clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.


Reboot to Normal Mode. Run HijackThis again, click Do a System scan and save log, and post the fresh log.

Download Sysclean Pacakge, create a folder named Sysclean on Desktop, and put the downloaded file to that folder. Next download the pattern file for Windows OS (pattern file will have a name like lpt731.zip ) and extract the contents of the ZIP file to the same Sysclean folder.

Boot in SAFE Mode.

Next, double-click on the sysclean.com file, and after few seconds, the Sysclean window appears. Here make sure that Automatically clean or delete infected files option is selected. Then click "Scan". After the scan is complete it gives a log, save the log file.


Reboot to Normal Mode. Perform an online virus scan at Panda ActiveScan with the "Disinfection" option enabled. Save the log it gives after the scan.


Post both Sysclean and Panda Activescan logs.
