Email?

I'm thinking of purchasing a license which will allow members to have @daniweb.com, @techtalkforums.com, or @dazah.com e-mail accounts. However, I'm wondering how many peeps would be interested in this before I shell out the bucks for a mail server :)

Re: Email?

Why would you need a license? If you already own the domains, you can host the e-mail on any server you want to. Just change the MX record for the domain to point to the mail server(s).

(... just load qmail on one of your Linux boxes and host it yourself :)

I would like to use SocketMail Pro. It has a lot of nice features and offers webmail in addition to POP accounts.

Why do u always go for the expensive option first? :P

Why not try it out a free solution, if it's sucessful, go purchase your unnecessary e-mail thingy.

Re: Email?

What free version? I don't want a mail server which is integrated with Linux. I want a system that users can sign up for via the www that is automated and will give them POP accounts independent of the system and system users.

The program/server I'm looking for is the only one I know of that will do this.

I don't think it's a good idea becase most people already have an e-mail account that they are dependent on. Even if you go through with it, I'm sure you'll still have people register for one, but I don't think it'll become their primary one. Personally, I don't think it's a big deal. From the forums I visit every day, I don't see many of them offer this service.

Nono. I don't think you guys understand the system I'm interested in. It would be a PHP/MySQL solution to webmail and POP mail that is NOT integrated with the linux system it will run on.
