comp freezes when trying online games
 

this is probably the wrong place to post this but I didn't know where else to try so here goes.

I'm running a
p4 1.8ghz
512 ram
9600xt 256mb ati radeon video card
intregrated avance audio 97 sound card
windows xp sp2

whenever I try an online game, usually even just at the login screen my computer will freeze up. Happens on almost every game I ever try such as knight online, lineage2, rose online, conquer...this list goes on.

I have no problem running offline games like GTA san andreas, or Dungeon Siege 2.

It's a wierd problem, and this may not be the place to get it solved but it's worth a shot. Any help that anyone thinks may be related to this will be usefull to me so thanks in advance.

I would start with updating your NIC drivers from the OEM (NOT WINDOWS PLUG AND PLAY). If the problem persists, try updating your video card drivers, also from the OEM. Try those and see what happens.
