| I need a great web designer and proffesional PHP Coder ~ 10k project Before i start on the details i would like to introduce myself... My name is Ronald A. Richardson i'm from Brooklyn and the CEO & Chairman of the New Era Conglomerate. I have looked all over the internet and charlotte even new york for a good php coder and i have finally came here. From the looks of it, i've came to the right place. Back in 2004 i started a web-network called Onispawn Network, it never got any attention. So i stoped working on it for a while and got back to the music industry producing. I finally racked up enough money and started a hosting company called Zerabyte Web Services wich is still under construction currently and almost done the web adress for that is www.zerabytehosting.com right now, and i wanna start on a new prject to expand the project even bigger. In a community for ppl of all kinds of PC skills and music and gaems, something sorta simular to Yahoo and MySpace, Newgrounds. Heres the details: This project is going to be like an Underground MySpace and Yahoo, with a fusion of Newgrounds! Its huge I need the design to be Dark, Black and Red. We need a advanced Image Gallery IPB Forums intergrated We need a Music Video system streaming exactly like Yahoo or jalive.jm We need a Music streamign system like MySpace with a themed Wimpy so we can play our MP3's on our web page inf lash We need a Torrent Portal system intergrated Need a Flash Portal intergrated into it just like Newgrounds We need a custom Portal system called Hack Unit wich is for hackers to meet and talk and share we need profile systems like MySpace and user blogs and groups like Yahoo groups I need a Universal type portal intergration for Emulators, so users can share and download review emulators. We need a Web links system we need a chat room intergrated We need a search engine with specific search functions We need a tutorials system I need a news system so i can post news and it has comments anrd archieves it. I need a game portal like gamespot.com, but sorta basic with game message boards, characters, information, rate, comment, trailers and tutorials. I need a downloads system like downloads.com with the reviews and comments and rate system We need a flash arcade system We need you to intergrate an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Game) System that i coded myself into the portal (We need featuresl also edited in this system like clans and party mode and it fused witht he forums so like post can be transfered into currency on the game and characters can be edited by how they dress etc.. sorta like gaiaonline.com avatar system) I need a freestlye rap are were users can login and have sorta a system like web cams but instead they only talk into there computer mics and its broadcasted then they can rap battle I need a Music Lyrics section I need a GFX Portal intergrated, were gfx and designers can meet up and communicate and share I need a templates download system intergrated like clantemplates.com I need a web mail system were users can get there own email (ex. user@onispawn.com) I also need a built in Online store so i can sell my products I already have a server using Linux and cPanel and i'm willing to give you access to this and databases and subdomains to make this possible. I need subdomains like when they go to Onispawn Groups (system like Yahoo Groups) for it to say groups.onispawn.com I'll give youa ll the access needed SSH and SSL, NOTE: The server is big too so it should be ble to handle it. ALSO: You can base this off of phpnuke if you want. But make it not recognizable I also need the FLV plugin like YouTube, for music videos. ~ you can use wimpy i have the script, and will give it to you! Tons of things need to be done, i need the logo to change everytime a user or a guest enters an intergrated portal, sorta how Yahoo does. Like Onispawn is main: if they go to games i need Onispawn Games, if they go to the arcade i need Onispawn Arcade, it would be nice to have a login and user information in the header (flash) and an MP3 player using XML. So basically the overall i need is, Music Videos Portal (Block downloads, have MySpace code features) MP3 Streaming Portal (Block downloads) Tutorials Portal Games Portal Flash Portal (like newgrounds) Arcade Portal Emulators Portal GFX Portal MMORPG System News System Web Links System Profile System (like MySpace's) Downloads System (like Downloads.com) Music Lyrics System IPB Forums Intergrated Email System Chat Rooms Image Gallery Commerce Store System Searfch Engine System Hack Unit (just an intergrated section custom to the portal) Groups System (Like Yahoo Groups or Bellsouth Personal Web Pages) Blogging System Rap Battle Freestyle System ---- NOTE i need an admin panel to manage everything and all, an admin panel simular to IPb or phpbb or phpnuke... And on the MMORPG Game system i need the avatar character system exactly like gaiaonline.com, where users can change there armour clothing and weapons. I've seen a 2D MMorpg system in PHP, so i kno it can be done. | Re: I need a great web designer and proffesional PHP Coder ~ 10k project Ronald, You would probably get a better response from the freelance sites, here at daniWeb if you were to take your project, which is very large in scope, and break it down into deliverable milestones. The way it stands it's not easiest project to bid on. By doing this you can get an apples to apples comparison for cost and timelines. I would suggest creating between 6 to 8 milestones. For example Portals (all the different portals for your site) File Upload / Download Communications (Blogs, forums, email, groups, chat etc..) Music and multimedia (video games, flash, torrents, music players, videos etc..) Commerce (Online store for your goods to sell) Site search Link exchange Then organize all your different items under these categories. I counted 56 items that need to be finished before your project is completed. Each one of these items can range in price from $622 to $1030 in price. Source: elance.com At the low end of the price spectrum your looking at around 35k and at the high end around 57k. Outlining your project milestones eliminates surprises for both you and the freelancer greatly increasing the success rate of your project especially for a project as large as yours. Richardson is still thinking/searching for a developers i would suggest following. 1st. with all respect to the PHP developers and the platform itself, i would suggest not to use PHP+MySQL for big projects, you may get surprised on its stability. once we spent 2 month making the gaming portal handle huge traffic. (but anyway you may ignore it. 2nd. you really should make few projects out of this one. and do it step by step. if the developers, that were doing first project did good, you continue using their services. once project (part of the big one as a separate site) is done, you can spend some money on its promotion. so when you do second project, by its end you will already have working project (the first one) which can be used for the site's promotion. our team has experience with both big projects and smaller one (design+development and its promotion) you may want to contact me and i give you consultation FOR FREE, just to share experience. i will say much more arguments which i can't do on public - and it may help you to do business. good luck anyway. |

How about the site you are posting this message on, it uses PHP and has 97,000 plus members. Dani web is a big site with lots of traffic, and it seems to be running just fine to me. I can only hope to have as much success as DaniWeb. What language would you recomend to run a site this large? |

i started working with php at 1998s (before that there was delphi, c/c++, html) so i saw it as it was moving on. the problem of the php is very clear - it's taken not serious by developers. how many times have you seen on the forums, where youngster that just figure out about <? echo "hello"; ?> and wishing to write forum. he spends lots of time on this, and it's good if he succeed. but what can he do if he easily uses "select * from ... order by fielad limit 0,100". try to run something like that on "apache+mysql+php" when you have about 10 users per minute and more than 1000 records in the table. than just for fun, check the sources of phpbb/phpmyadmin - that is really mess. usually developers using PHP know nothing about OOP than what's that in general, and how great is the incapsulation. and than you have classes with 20 functions, without any polymorphism. and very briefly about what do our team mostly uses for big project. it's asp.net (1.1/2.0) and MSSQL 2000/moving to 2005. in c# the OOP is built in, and you simply thing in this terms, it's really easy to write something usable and flexible after big exeperience on c++. to write something more complex in asp.net thatn some homepage, you need to figure out in the whole process, how is all that stuff working (i mean all that postbacks/purpose of viewstates/begin request and on and on). so thans to microsoft that they simply tell - if you can't cope with our architect that is really greatly documented that how do you think yo u will developer the site/software or whatever in mssql, you don't have any limit, and you have to turn your brains on to do paging (for example). and here you have all that stored procedures/views than make you life easier when you know how to use that.. this is my openion really in general, hope it will help someone :) |
