help with reading these logs
 
My daughter's computer has adds popping up non stop. I have ran read other posts "help with trojan" and followed your instructions.
I ran CCleaner, HJT and smitfraud.
I saved the logs and need to know what to do next. I have no clue what all this stuff means, your help would be much appreciated!!

The pop ups still don't stop after CCleaner and AVG pops up with a trojan virus alert. Another virus just popped up as I am righting> Exploit WMF

Ok, I must appologize. I just read the 1st thread "fixes for viruses" and there seems to be alot I should have done before postng my logs. I will work on deleting as much as I feel safe with and see how it goes.
I have to say I'm either lucky or am running all the right programs, programs I have learned about from this forum. I have never had a virus or adware type problems. I just follow your advise. My daughter, 12 years old, seems to be "click happy" and now her computer is almost useless from all the adds taking over. This is why I am asking for you help. I am blind to this activity and need to learn how to protect her computer and her from all this nonsense.
Again my appologies for expecting someone to "just fix this". I am trying myself but need a little guidence and am willing to replace the protection that came with her computer with whatever you recommend.

Please download the L2MFix by Shadowwar:
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click l2mfix.exe
  • Click the Install - button to extract the files.
  • Follow the prompts, then please open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.
  • Double-click the l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log.

Copy the contents of that log and paste it into your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until I ask you to!

Note; if you recieve any error messages for CMD or Autoexec.bat>> select option 5 from the l2mfix and once at the site, click on the link that apply to your operating system.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Sorry for the late reply, been busy :).

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Please download ewido anti-malware it is a free version of the program.
  1. Install ewido anti-malware
  2. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
    • Install background guard
    • Install scan via context menu
  3. Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
  4. The program will now open to the main screen.
  5. When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  6. You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
    • Then click on Start Update.
  7. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
    (the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful" )
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.

Once the updates are installed do the following:
  • Open up Ewido
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
  • Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.
  • Close ewido anti-malware.

Reboot.

so sorry for the delay, been busy too. I will try to do the next step and give you the logs Monday night.
My daughter is back home and wants to use her computer. Will this screw up our progress ??? Will it just keep adding what we are trying to delete?

Sorry for the long delay getting back. I feel bad with you taking the time to help me, just been working alot of hours.
Anyhow I cannot get her computer to start in safe mode. i have done this many times on my other computers. Hers just keeps going in circles. It acts like a normal safe mode start then cycles back to starting normally then a screen comes on (black) that says windows did not load correctly,,,,choose how i would like to load. I pick safe mode again, numbers scroll down like usual safe mode then It starts all over again. Never had this problem
Is their another route to get into safe mode???

I've really screwed it up now. Someone said to try start/ run/ msconfig/ bootini and check safe start from there.
Now it still does the same thin as in my last post but now I cant get windows to start at all because it is coninuously trying to safe start.
i have tried every option it gives pressing f8 and at all has the same result, it just keeps starting over.
HELP my daughter is freeking out

should I post this in another forum now that I have created a whole other problem?
