| Re: hijackthis log: please review looks ok! a few things to consider .when you use hijackthis to fix , it saves backups so it should not be run from a temp folder or from the desktop put it in a folder of its own like C:\HJT\hijackthis.exe . You could fix this rescource hog, that not needed at startup Have Hijack This fix the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and selecting fix checked. Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing. Rescource hog O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE If you don't use messenger you could fix it .but by the looks of it you do use it !! O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background |

| Re: hijackthis log: please review This one has a few problems. Download LSPfix from here On the opening screen, click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox. Check all instances of "inetadpt.dll" (and nothing else), and move them to the "Remove" pane. Then click Finish. Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries= R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.zestyfind.com/ R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = res://C:\PROGRA~1\TOOLBAR\TOOLBAR.DLL/sa R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,CustomizeSearch = res://C:\PROGRA~1\TOOLBAR\TOOLBAR.DLL/sa R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {8952A998-1E7E-4716-B23D-3DBE03910972} - C:\PROGRA~1\TOOLBAR\TOOLBAR.DLL O3 - Toolbar: &Search Toolbar - {339BB23F-A864-48C0-A59F-29EA915965EC} - C:\PROGRA~1\TOOLBAR\TOOLBAR.DLL O13 - WWW. Prefix: http:// Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here & navigate to & delete C:\WINDOWS\TEMP< entire contents of this folder. Reboot normally. Can you download the following app & run it, making sure to have one internet exploder window open. Save the log & paste the results back here. VX2Finder |

| Re: hijackthis log: please review You are VERY right, this computer (rc) is extremely messed up. It was not very cooperative either when trying your fixes. The link to LSPfix kept getting hijacked, but when I did get it downloaded, inetadpt.dll was not found. I was not able to find the log file of VX2Finder, but here is the result: Guardian Key Use Agent String 0B488100-6389-11d8-AFD5-00E0877F069 Here is the hjt log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.97.7 Scan saved at 9:40:02 AM, on 05/06/2004 Platform: Windows 98 SE (Win9x 4.10.2222A) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\KERNEL32.DLL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSGSRV32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\mmtask.tsk C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MPREXE.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\SYMANTEC_CLIENT_SECURITY\SYMANTEC ANTIVIRUS\RTVSCN95.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\SYMANTEC_CLIENT_SECURITY\SYMANTEC ANTIVIRUS\DEFWATCH.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\WINTOOLS\WTOOLSA.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\WINTOOLS\WSUP.EXE C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\TASKMON.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SYSTRAY.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\SYMANTEC_CLIENT_SECURITY\SYMANTEC ANTIVIRUS\VPTRAY.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\FLAW FORK\DEFAULT AXIS FIVE.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\HPJETDSC.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\WEBSHOTS\WEBSHOTSTRAY.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WMIEXE.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\IEXPLORE.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DDHELP.EXE C:\HJT\HIJACKTHIS.EXE R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://allaboutsearching.com/searchbar.html R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.msn R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = msn R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = res://C:\PROGRA~1\TOOLBAR\TOOLBAR.DLL/sa R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://allaboutsearching.com/searchbar.html R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = 192.168.1.100:8080 R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = msn R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName = R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = http://www.websearch.com/ie.aspx?tb_id=50032 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,CustomizeSearch = res://C:\PROGRA~1\TOOLBAR\TOOLBAR.DLL/sa R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {8952A998-1E7E-4716-B23D-3DBE03910972} - C:\PROGRA~1\TOOLBAR\TOOLBAR.DLL O2 - BHO: (no name) - {63B78BC1-A711-4D46-AD2F-C581AC420D41} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\BTIEIN.DLL O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8952A998-1E7E-4716-B23D-3DBE03910972} - C:\PROGRA~1\TOOLBAR\TOOLBAR.DLL O3 - Toolbar: &Search Toolbar - {339BB23F-A864-48C0-A59F-29EA915965EC} - C:\PROGRA~1\TOOLBAR\TOOLBAR.DLL O3 - Toolbar: 64 anti - {EB708A08-EAA4-9FF7-EC25-4BD6F257282A} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\STARTFORD\CDROMCOMP.DLL O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ScanRegistry] C:\WINDOWS\scanregw.exe /autorun O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TaskMonitor] C:\WINDOWS\taskmon.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SystemTray] SysTray.Exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LoadPowerProfile] Rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,LoadCurrentPwrScheme O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [vptray] C:\Program Files\Symantec_Client_Security\Symantec AntiVirus\vptray.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Platform regs] C:\PROGRA~1\FLAWFO~1\Default Axis Five.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinTools] C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools\WToolsA.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [SchedulingAgent] mstask.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [rtvscn95] C:\PROGRA~1\SYMANT~1\SYMANT~1\rtvscn95.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [defwatch] C:\PROGRA~1\SYMANT~1\SYMANT~1\defwatch.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [WinTools] C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools\WToolsA.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [HP JetDiscovery] HPJETDSC.EXE O4 - Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE O4 - Startup: Webshots.lnk = C:\Program Files\Webshots\WebshotsTray.exe O4 - Startup: Event Reminder.lnk = C:\pmw\PMREMIND.EXE O12 - Plugin for .hpb: C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\PLUGINS\nphpipb.dll O12 - Plugin for .spop: C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\Plugins\NPDocBox.dll O12 - Plugin for .2: C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\PLUGINS\npqtplugin3.dll O12 - Plugin for .mpg: C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\PLUGINS\npqtplugin3.dll O16 - DPF: {D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000} (Shockwave Flash Object) - http://active.macromedia.com/flash2/cabs/swflash.cab O16 - DPF: {9600F64D-755F-11D4-A47F-0001023E6D5A} (Shutterfly Picture Upload Plugin) - http://web1.shutterfly.com/downloads/Uploader.cab O16 - DPF: {17D72920-7A15-11D4-921E-0080C8DA7A5E} (AimSp32 Class) - http://makeover.substance.com/save/makeover.cab O16 - DPF: {9F1C11AA-197B-4942-BA54-47A8489BB47F} (Update Class) - http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...921.3980324074 O16 - DPF: {FF65677A-8977-48CA-916A-DFF81B037DF3} (WMService Class) - http://download.overpro.com/WildApp.cab O16 - DPF: {74D05D43-3236-11D4-BDCD-00C04F9A3B61} (HouseCall Control) - http://a840.g.akamai.net/7/840/537/2...ll/xscan53.cab |

| Re: hijackthis log: please review With the VX2Finder app, start the program & when the scan has finished select *log* then just copy the results here. The log should open to a txt file. Your new HJT log appears to have grown so we will do this now: Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here & Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. I have no idea what this is: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Platform regs] C:\PROGRA~1\FLAWFO~1\Default Axis Five.exe If you don't either, fix it with HJT then delete the FLAWFO~1 folder.
