Just like the thread below, I am also getting this error, but I didn't know whether to make a new thread or not because we may have different Hijackthis logs(I'm not too tech savvy, so please bear with me). Your log definitely indicates a few "nasties" (including the "VirusBursters" infection responsible for the fake critical system warnings), but there's something you need to take care of first: C:\DOCUME~1\HP_ADM~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\Temporary Directory 1 for hijackthis.zip\HijackThis.exe The log entry above indicates that you are running the HijackThis.exe program from within the downloaded HijackThis.zip download package. You are also running HJT from within a Temp/Temporary downloads folder. One of the normal steps in eliminating malicious programs is to entirely delete the contents of all Temp folders. Given that, if HijackThis (and other data that you care about) is living in those Temp folders, it will be erased along with everything else! Please do the following: * Create a folder for HJT outside of any Temp/Temporary folders. A folder such such as C:\HijackThis or C:\Spyware Tools\HijackThis will do. * Right-click on the HijackThis.zip folder and choose the "Extract all..." option from the resulting drop-down menu. This will start Windows' Folder Extraction Wizard. Click the "Next" button to start the wizard. * In the next window, click on the "Browse" button. In the destination selection box, navigate to the new folder you created for HJT, hilight it, and click "OK". * Click "Next", and then click "Finished"; a window dispaying the newly-extracted hijackthis.exe file should open. * Double-click on the hijackthis.exe file and run a new scan. Post the new scan log so that we can verify that HijackThis is now running from a safe/correct location. |

You need to begin your OWN NEW thread by clicking the Start A New Thread on the left of the page. (See my attachment) above the listings of threads. Give it a Title which will indicate your problem. State your problem clearly. Your HiJackThis version is way out of date. You need to delete this one and download the newest version. Right Click on the desktop and choose New Folder. Name this folder HiJackThis. Then go HERE and download the newest version of HJT. Save it in that new folder you just created. It must be run from it's own folder NOT a temp folder. You also need to do some clean-up of the computer before running another HJT scan. Do the following in NORMAL MODE; Please Download ATF-Cleaner.exe by Atribune You can put ATF-Cleaner on your Desktop for easy access. RUN ATF-Cleaner.exe. -- Click on ATF-Cleaner to run it -- Where it says Select Files To Delete, Check the Select All Option -- Click Empty Selected > OK If you use Firefox browser, do this also: * Click Firefox at the top and choose Select All from the list. * Click the Empty Selected button. * NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, click No at the prompt. Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBA-M) to your Desktop. * DoubleClick mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install MBA-M. * Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. * If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. * Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan. * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. * Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. * When MBA-M finishes, Notepad will open with the log. Please save it where you can find it easily. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt. Once you have done the above then run the new HJT scan. Be certain this scan is run in NORMAL MODE. Save the log. Post in YOUR NEW THREAD all information requested and the MBA-M log and the new HJT scan log. Judy |
