mcafee ver 8 closes after 10 seconds
 

i have windows xp home edition and i am using mcafee 8.0 to defend it. i know that i had the sasser worm but i removed it, updated patch and internet connection works fine but when i go to update, run, or even view my mcafee it closes. when i try to click on it in the system try it dissappears from my cursor.( hate to say it but it is a pretty interesting virus program, being optimistic) one thing that i can do is run mcafee in safe mode but nothing is found. i have also ran stinger and adaware. also when i go to msconfig to see programs at startup, it closes after about five seconds also.
