| WMP 10 & 11 won't burn CD's Hey, i've been a long time reader of this website because i use it at my job where i also fix the same problems you all encounter every day, but now the tables have turned. i have a problem of my own... i want to burn cd's on windows media player, it doesn't matter 10 and 11 both won't allow me to burn. currently i'm rolled back to WMP 10 and whenever i put in a blank memorex cd it says that the CD-R drive is in use, now i have disabled all drives created by deamon and i also uninstalled deamon and i even uninstalled nero 7. i also tried changing the drive letter. it was at E: now it's at D: but that didn't fix the problem (i didn't think that it would). ok now here is the catch, when i eject the CD from the drive it says to insert a blank CD. so i re-insert the cd and i get the exact same error. i do not know why i'm so confused on this issue.. i'm using a DV1000t HP Laptop. DVD-R,DVD-R DL, CD-R/W support is on my drive. it's model is: HL-DT-ST- DVDRAM GSA-4028N i've looked for firmware but was unsuccessful. there are no drivers on HP's website for the drive. the IMAPI CD- Burning config is set to automatic and started in Services (services.msc). please help me for once i am the customer :) and as requested here is my HJT log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 11:44:16 PM, on 12/12/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.5730.0011) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\bin\btwdins.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\GEARSec.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\Norton Ghost\Agent\PQV2iSvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Shared\hpqwmiex.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxtray.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxpers.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe C:\Program Files\HP\QuickPlay\QPService.exe C:\Program Files\HPQ\Quick Launch Buttons\EabServr.exe C:\Program Files\Hp\HP Software Update\HPWuSchd2.exe C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\Program Files\AIM\aim.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\BTTray.exe C:\PROGRA~1\WIDCOMM\BLUETO~1\BTSTAC~1.EXE C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SpybotSD.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\WINWORD.EXE C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\Program Files\WinRAR\WinRAR.exe C:\DOCUME~1\Hoffinon\LOCALS~1\Temp\Rar$EX00.265\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TY...lion&pf=laptop R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TY...lion&pf=laptop O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SDHelper.dll O2 - BHO: SSVHelper Class - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_09\bin\ssv.dll O2 - BHO: Windows Live Sign-in Helper - {9030D464-4C02-4ABF-8ECC-5164760863C6} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live\WindowsLiveLogin.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [igfxtray] C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxtray.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [igfxhkcmd] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [igfxpers] C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxpers.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SynTPEnh] C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QPService] "C:\Program Files\HP\QuickPlay\QPService.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [eabconfg.cpl] C:\Program Files\HPQ\Quick Launch Buttons\EabServr.exe /Start O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RecGuard] C:\Windows\SMINST\RecGuard.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HP Software Update] C:\Program Files\Hp\HP Software Update\HPWuSchd2.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iTunesHelper] "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe" O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [AIM] C:\Program Files\AIM\aim.exe -cnetwait.odl O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ctfmon.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MsnMsgr] "C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe" /background O4 - Global Startup: Bluetooth.lnk = ? | Re: WMP 10 & 11 won't burn CD's so the memorex disk work with nero and other software just not the wmp10-11 .only thing i would suggest is a shot in the dark ,disable this either with hijackthis or msconfig .oh and you are running hijackthis from a temp,zip folder ,suggest unzipping it fully into its own folder in the root of c: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iTunesHelper] "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe" |

| Re: WMP 10 & 11 won't burn CD's well actually as a quick fix all i had to do was burn a cd in itunes and then it would allow me to burn in WMP11.. i don't use nero anymore, for some reason when i burn music cd's with nero and my drive it causes skips in the songs. at the exact same spot. so i just use WMP. but that's another arguement. thanks for taking a look, cheers! |

| Re: WMP 10 & 11 won't burn CD's yeah WMP is picky about devices e.g Media player 9 and 10 and 11 beta 1 worked with my WM2003 PocketPC PDA but 11 beta 2 and 11 say its too old ( less than 4 yrs!) same goes for cd burners |
