Re: hijacked; follow up/ DESKTOP locked another bizarre twist; when I connect to the internet ( and only then) can I open My Documents/ My computer from the Desktop; opening the Explorer without connecting to the Internet DOES NOT work At first I thought that I was (am) crazy; but after many attempts, I verified the phenomena ( no other word for it) Can someone explain my conundrum, please ??

Re: hijacked; follow up/ DESKTOP locked Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked' : O2 - BHO: Core Library - {D4D505DF-D582-400c-91B6-84921012AFE3} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\PDF01D5.DLL O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wininetd] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\wininetd.exe Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here & navigate to & delete the following if found: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\wininetd.exe< file Reboot normally after doing the above then post a fresh log plz.

Re: hijacked; follow up/ DESKTOP locked thanks Crunchie; the problem "seems" to have resolved I appreciate your insight As I had already deleted winietd ; the BHO file was the apparent culprit Thanks again sorry for the multiple posts locked out; no more :cheesy:

Re: hijacked; follow up/ DESKTOP locked Hi aliceryuryu, First of all- welcome to DaniWeb :) As per our forum rules, we ask that members not tag their questions on to a thread previously started by another member (regardless of how similar your problem might seem). Not only does it divert the focus of the thread away from the original poster's problem, but it also makes it less likely that you yourself will get the individual attention that you need. Please start your own thread and post your log there. When you do post the log, please make sure you post the entire contents of the file; the log you posted here is missing some important header information (compare it with logs posted by other members). Thanks for understanding.
